There are so many choices for materials when building a home.  I love a variety to break things up.  This particular home as an abundance of materials; siding, stone and shake.  It gives the eye a chance to see the different planes and draws the eye to the next.

There are homes that just go overboard, with four or more.  Finding the right balance is a challenge.  Too few is boring and too many is confusing.  I think it comes from experience of a builder.  Knowledge is power and having the power does not mean you should use it!
