Your Door and More captures a slice of Holly Springs’ history
Local landmark, Mims House, to be focus of illustration donation

Local entrepreneurs Brenda Priest and Lisa Drymon recently celebrated their business’ 1-year anniversary in a unique way: by capturing a local historic landmark, the 38-room mansion known as the Leslie-Alford-Mims House, in one of their trademark pen-and-ink illustrations and donating it to the Town of Holly Springs. The Mims House illustration was unveiled to the public at the Holly Fest at Womble Park on October 23 and was presented to Mayor Sears of the Town of Holly Springs on November 13. This handcrafted original artwork will hang in Town Hall.

The Mims House is currently being renovated by private owners; this illustration will capture and preserve its “before” state, circa 1900. Your Door and More contacted Mayor Sears and inquired if there were any Holly Springs landmarks that he thought would be a benefit to the town’s local art collection. Mims House was his first choice since it is part of the seal of the Town. Lisa and Brenda took upwards of 200 digital pictures to avoid the huge magnolia trees and truly capture the small details of the grand old home.

Lisa and Brenda are long-time friends and Holly Springs residents who wanted to own a local business that would still allow them the flexibility to spend time with their children without traditional 9-to-5 jobs. They started brainstorming about what could be done with Brenda’s talent for pen-and-ink drawing and Lisa’s flair for sales and Your Door & More was born.

Your Door & More helps you share the joy and excitement of owning a home by providing personalized pen-and-ink illustrations of your door, front porch or home. The artistic team of Brenda Priest and Lisa Drymon can custom illustrate special housewarming gifts, moving announcement cards or holiday greeting cards. With an illustrated change-of-address card you can send out-of-town family and friends not only your new address, but also a sneak peak of your new home. What better way to send a Holiday card with your own home decorated with trimmings for the season!
